History of AVC
EST. FEB 1989 · DR. LISA ELLER · 10-STALL BARN 1995 · SEMEN LAB 1996
Dr. Lisa Eller opened the Arthur Veterinary Clinic in February 1989. The practice consisted of one veterinarian and a 32'×44' building. This building was used for the small animal clinic as well as the treatment and out-patient area for equine patients.
As the practice grew, and a need for hospitalizing horses became evident, construction began on an equine facility in 1995. The barn consisted of 2 stocks/treatment area, a wash bay, medical storage, kitchen area, a bedroom with attached bathroom, 3 offices, 10 box stalls with outside paddocks, and hay/feed storage.
With the increasing popularity of artificial insemination and embryo transfer in horses, Dr. Eller decided in the Fall of 1996 to add an additional lab for semen processing and shipping along with a designated area for stallion handling and semen collection. Dr. Linda Harmon-Dodge and Dr. Scott Nebergall joined the clinic to help with the demand of the growing practice.
In 2005 the small animal clinic was renovated with an addition and improvements to the existing structure along with new landscaping. Digital radiography and ultrasound were also added. The expanded clinic included 3 exam rooms, a surgery suite, a spacious treatment area and laboratory, hospitalization area, and a separate space for radiography. Dr. Kyle Drake joined the practice in 2010 and purchased the practice from Dr. Eller in 2013. Some of the newer additions include upgraded computer software, a new ultrasonic dental unit and the most current hematology and biochemistry unit available. Dr. Debra Sauberli, formally of the University of Illinois, joined the practice in 2014.
